Accident insurance coverage is also provided to consumers.
Balangan Beach, locally referred to as Pantai Balangan, is one of Bali’s most popular and most scenic, featuring a gorgeous half-kilometre stretch of golden sand bordered between vegetated limestone cliffs and a reef with one of the longest left-hander breaks on the island.
This surfing paradise attracts wave riders from around the world, who enjoy most of the south-western Bukit coastline together with Balangan’s sister breaks of Dreamland, Impossibles, Padang Padang, Suluban and Uluwatu further south. Balangan Beach shares the same vicinity as Dreamland, set only a kilometre apart and separated by a small headland that serves as the famous signature Hole 15 of the New Kuta Golf Course, from where players get the best bird’s eye-view over both beaches and the ocean horizon. The coastline is accessible down the namesake Jalan Pantai Balangan, an approximate 7-kilometre (4.3-mile) ride west from the Garuda Wisnu Kencana cultural park, and 20 kilometres (12.4 miles) south from the main hub of Kuta. This beach is located in the area of Nusa Dua is famous as an elite area. It was developed specifically as an ultra-high end luxury resort destination, far from the real Bali. It’s a place for vacationers who want simply to luxuriate in a tropical paradise. Not surprisingly then, Nusa Dua consists of a dozen or so world-class resorts with extensive landscaped gardens, immaculately-clean powdery beaches, gourmet restaurants, serene spas and peaceful sitting spaces.
But you do not have to worry about the costs to be incurred, without time limit you can enjoy the beach atmosphere and free of charge. The waves at Nusa Dua Beach tend to be quiet, so if you visit this beach with the kids, you need not worry. You can relax, sunbathe or swim in peace. There are no merchants or masseuse milling, so for you who are seeking for peace, we promise you will not be disturbed.
Thanks to the well-planned layout of the Nusa Dua tourism complex, you have an upmarket shopping complex, superb facilities and manicured gardens that seamlessly blend in with a luxurious 18-hole golf course – all within a hort walk from your hotel. Although Nusa Dua is Bali’s most developed resort area, you can still find cultural attractions here. These range from temples, a museum housing arts and artefacts from Indonesia and the Pacific, and unique natural landmarks around its scenic peninsula. Dreamy beachfront settings overlooking clean white sand beaches make Nusa Dua an idyllic place for honeymooners. Some resorts feature great kids’ clubs, making Nusa Dua an ideal beach destination for families.
This tourist place has easy access to reach. From Kuta, you only need about 20-30 minutes, while from Jimbaran, the required time is shorter, which is about 15 minutes. If you are from the airport and want to go directly to Nusa Dua Beach, the time is only about 20 to 30 minutes.
The best restaurants in Jimbaran comprise a selection of fine dining restaurants at numerous five-star hotels dotted around this favourite Bali beach resort area, as well as popular local ‘warungs’ and cafes along its main streets of Jalan Raya Uluwatu and Jalan Bukit Permai. The latter is also the focal point of Jimbaran as one of the most popular dining destinations in Bali, where the longstanding array of local sunset seafood cafes line the scenic ‘Pantai Muaya Jimbaran’.
Here you can experience Bali’s all-time favourite seafood dining experience on the beach, which serves up great barbecues and cold beers that go down particularly well with the dramatic sunsets. For a more refined and upscale luxury dining atmosphere, you don’t need to go too far, as lavish beach clubs and restaurants offering haute cuisine are within walking distance along the sand. Here we have selected the best places to eat in Jimbaran for foodies enjoying their time in and around this picturesque bay
Tanah Lot is easily one of Bali’s most iconic temples. Truly one of a kind, it features a small shrine complex on an islet, set against a dreamy ocean backdrop. We set out on a short tour to explore this famous site. Your holiday in Bali will be incomplete without visiting this landmark.
Besides the showpiece temple complex that is surrounded by the Indian Ocean, one among our popular temple tour itineraries also includes a stopover at another regal site – an idyllic temple complex called Taman Ayun that is surrounded by a spring-fed freshwater moat rather than crashing waves.
Starting off in the early afternoon from Kuta Beach, we head north on our combined tour to first reach Taman Ayun Temple. This significant temple complex is located in the village of Mengwi, an hour’s drive north. A remnant of the old Mengwi kingdom, the 17th century temple stands gracefully with its four different divisions and palatial surroundings.
The complex features terraced courtyards set in well-kept grounds with manicured lawns, and which is surrounded by a large manmade moat. The overall atmosphere is a soothing one and you can easily lose a sense of time here. Also, don’t miss the bell tower with ladders you can climb up for a spectacular birds’ eye view!
After a good hour enjoying the gorgeous surrounds of Taman Ayun, we set out west entering the Tabanan regency, with a stop at Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest. Alas Kedaton is a 12Ha nutmeg forest that is home to hundreds of grey long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis). Within the forest is also a temple, and out on the perimeter are art shops and small restaurants selling refreshments.
Then, we head towards the highlight of our tour: Tanah Lot Temple. Various art shops and galleries displaying knick-knacks line the meandering sidewalks, and approaching the coastline, the sea temple comes to view. At low tide, you can walk down to the rocky shore alongside Tanah Lot for a closer photo shot of this breathtaking structure.
The rock base is where the legendary ‘guardian’ sea snakes dwell in crevices around the Tirta Pabersihan fountain, which is a natural spout and source of holy water for all the temples in the area. A priest usually stands by to bless visitors with a sprinkle of this holy water over their heads. Entry to the rock temple is normally restricted only to praying pilgrims.
During high-tide, the western seas are rough and extra caution must be taken near the crashing waves and wet rocks, but you can still capture some great images and enjoy the spectacle, as the best views are indeed from a distance, onshore. There are also many other side highlights to be viewed here, including numerous smaller temples that host prayer sessions for various aspects of agrarian life, from good rice harvests to rites of passage.
To sum up, this tour offers a great half-day (approximately six hours) to see three of Bali’s iconic temples – one placid and green and surrounded by still freshwater, another in a lush nutmeg forest 'guarded' by monkeys, and another surrounded by crashing blue waves. You are sure to experience sights that will be embedded in your memory for a lifetime.

Nyepi Day in Bali is a New Year celebration unlike anywhere else on the planet. Bali celebrates the Saka New Year as the Bali Day of Silence. It's ultimately the quietest day of the year, when all of the island's inhabitants abide by a set of local rules. These bring all routine activities to a complete halt. Roads all over Bali are void of any traffic and nobody steps outside of their home premises.
Most Balinese and visitors regard Nyepi as a much-anticipated occasion. Some expats and those coming from neighbouring islands prefer escaping Bali for the day rather, due to restrictions that surround the observance. Some others check coinciding dates ahead before their Bali trip, avoiding it altogether. Anyhow, Nyepi is worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime. Especially, since the preceding and following days offer rare highlights to behold!
Observed from 6 a.m. until 6 a.m. the next morning, Nyepi is a day reserved for self-reflection, and as such, anything that might interfere with that purpose is restricted. The main restrictions are no lighting fires (and lights must be kept low); no working; no entertainment or pleasure; no traveling; and, for some, no talking or eating at all. The effect of these prohibitions is that Bali's usually bustling streets and roads are empty, there is little or no noise from TVs and radios, and few signs of activity are seen even inside homes. The only people to be seen outdoors are the Pecalang, traditional security men who patrol the streets to ensure the prohibitions are being followed.
The Bali Swing has become such a phenomenon that hundreds of others have sprung up all over Bali. It is hard to go 100 yards without seeing a swing or a sign for one. However, the original (and best) Is just outside Ubud, and made our list of amazing things to do in Ubud. Ever since first seeing pictures of people swinging over the jungle on instagram I wanted to try it for myself. It looks pretty sketchy in a photo but when you get there it actually feels really safe, and is definitely a unique experience. It's not hard to see why it is one of Bali's most instagrammable spots.
The Bali Swing is actually several different swings of varying heights, with more being currently built.
They overlook a beautiful palm tree valley with a river, giving the real Balinese jungle look and feel. It is a very beautiful setting and you can see why it has become so popular.
The Bali Swing gets incredibly busy, so it pays to turn up at the opening time, the earlier the better.
Ideally you won't want the feeling of a queue developing while you're trying to get the perfect shot. When we were there, it was getting really busy even at 9am.
The early morning is also when the light is at its best, soft and not directly in the shot. If you go in the late afternoon you run the risk of shadows and the middle of the day could create harsh contrasts.
The Bali Swing opens at 8am, but the pickup from town doesn't start until 9am. Even though a free pick up is appealing it is better to get there earlier, so we'd advise going under your own steam if you are really after that perfect photo.

He Ascension of the Prophet Muhammad is a major holiday in Indonesia. This holiday is also known as Isra Mi’raj, and falls on the 27th day of Rajab, the 7th month in the Islamic Calendar.
Isra Mi’raj celebrates the Prophet Muhammad’s night journey to Heaven after he met Gabriel while meditating in a mountain cave near Mecca. In the cave, Muhammad agreed to God’s demand that he should found Islam and teach the world that there is only one true God.
According to the Quran, Muhammad departed the Holy Masjid in Mecca to go to Masjid al-Asqa in Jerusalem. From Masjid al-Asqa, Gabriel, an angel of God, guided Muhammad through the Kingdom of God and the seven heavens.
After meeting prophets at each level of heaven and seeing many wonders that surrounded him, Muhammad traveled across the seventh heaven to ascend to Paradise. In Paradise, the wonders of Heaven increased in both quantity and scale.
Muhammad eventually reached the Throne of God. At the Throne of God, God formally ordered Muhammad to found Islam. God promised that Muslims who are obedient will be rewarded with the wonders of Paradise. Muhammad returned to Earth to carry out his mission and found Islam.

Good Friday is a public holiday in Indonesia, where about 10 percent of the population are Christian. The Easter weekend is celebrated mainly among Christians, though the public holiday on Good Friday is a day-off for all.
Most Easter events in Indonesia are in churches, private homes, and hotels and resorts that cater to Christian tourists who expect Easter events. There are a few special events outside these confines, however, and there are also often fundraising drives during Holy Week to benefit the poor and needy.
You will find Easter vigils, candlelight services, egg decorating, and even the Easter Bunny in parts of Indonesia, much like in other countries where Easter is observed. You will also hear people greet one another with, “Selamat Hari Paskah!” (Happy Easter!).
If in Jakarta at Eastertime, be sure to see the imposing, Gothic-style Jakarta Cathedral, built over a 100 years ago. The Catholic archbishop holds Easter services in the cathedral each year.
Also, on the eastern half of the island of Flores there have been re-enactments of the crucifixion of Christ since colonial times. You can see men tied onto large, wood crosses and carried through through the streets on Good Friday. Two statues, one of Mary and the other of Jesus, are also carried in a procession in the town of Larantuka, ending at the Cathedral of the Queen of the Rosary.
Besakih Temple is located in the North West of Bali, near Bali's highest and most important and most spectacular Volcano, Mount Agung. It is surrounded by scenic rice paddies, lush forests and vegetation. The compound is really big so you can easily spend 3 hours here. You will need to walk quite a bit and climb stairs and if you have a good guide who is capable of explaining to you the different symbols, the meaning of the separate temples, their shrines etc time will fly.
Besakih is known as the Mother Temple of Bali and is simply the most important temple for the whole of the island. It is actually more like a complex of temples in one very large compound and its known and loved for is its dramatic location on the southern slopes of Sacred Mount Agung. It is known as and accepted as Bali’s Mother Temple for more than a thousand years. Besakih is quite unique as it basically consists of more than 80 individual temples. The main one is Pura Penataran Agung.
Besakih was hit a few times by earthquakes (e.g. 1917) and also several volcanic eruptions of Mount Agung took their toll, particularly a major one in 1963. The complex did get damaged here and there but in 1963 the the lava flow did pass sparing the temple from complete destruction. This event is now of course part of the overall legend of Pura Besakih. The people believe that the deities showed their true power but without destroying the holy temple completely.
Besakih being the biggest and holiest of the island's temples plays a significant role not only for the villages and families nearby but for entire Bali. Many important festivals are celebrated here. It is a temple open to every devotee - from any caste groups. It is simply the prime spiritual centre for all Balinese.
The best time to visit is the early morning, so you avoid the many groups that come here in tour buses.
Sanur Beach, Bali's earliest beach resort, features a relaxed coastal ambiance. Located on the eastern side of the island's isthmus, it is the opposite of Kuta.
Both in characteristics and nuance. The former fishing village maintains most of its charm and continues to attract repeat visitors.
Sanur was known for beach with no waves, so surfing is not possible here. On the contrary, Sanur has a huge variety of water sports on offer and you can try kiting surfing, paragliding, and even standing up paddle boarding. Or you can just sit and relaxed enjoying the comfortable wind and local hospitality.

Nyang Nyang Beach in Bali is a pristine 1.5-kilometre stretch of coastline and also one of Bali’s least visited beaches. This is partly due to its far-flung location and the long trek required to reach it. Still, it makes for a prize destination for day-trippers and beach lovers exploring the southern Bukit peninsula, and offers great surf for those looking for waves to ride all for themselves. The beach is located in the Pecatu area, half a kilometre’s drive southeast of the Uluwatu Temple.
There are several routes branching off from the Jalan Uluwatu main road that leads down to two halves of Nyang Nyang Beach, one of them is via Jalan Batu Nunggulan and right at the cliff edge of Villa Plenilunio. From this end, you need to continue on an approximate half-hour trek down moderately rugged terrain and flight of stairs – a journey well worth it thanks to the splendid views over the limestone hillside covered in lush greenery and flowering bushes. Sounds and views of the ocean accompany your steady descent. Beyond this is the prize view when you sink your feet into the coarse sand. The deserted terrain is bordered by slanting cliffs as far as your eyes can see, with thin mists hanging above the ocean. Out at sea you will be able to see the natural reef that breaks the incoming tides, allowing for calm and clear waters bordering the coast. The long coastline makes for a good walk, with virtually no other human in sight most of the time, other than occasional local seaweed farmers tending to their crops, or bold and lonesome surfers out on the reef break, having their thrill of a lifetime (only for the advanced, and those really determined on carrying their boards down and up the hill again). There are actually two halves of Nyang Nyang Beach, divided only by a broad grassy headland. Near the western end of the eastern half of Nyang Nyang, you’ll be treated to a lone split shipwreck on the sand. You can stay on for sunset here or make the climb up again before dark. It has also become a camping site for die-hard travellers and weekenders as the deserted ambiance makes it an excellent spot for bonfires under the stars and for those willing to set up tents and camp the night. Swimming out is not recommended; obviously there are no lifeguards on patrol. Also, be in good shape and bring adequate rations and drinking water – there are also no food stalls or peddlers, other than one at Nyang Nyang Beach’s western half, selling drinks and colourful beach cloths.
